How To Store & Transfer Hand Sanitiser Safely

Due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic there has been huge demand and usage of hand sanitiser around the world. A scientific paper published in 2020 by members of the Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia in Vancouver confirmed that: "most alcohol-based hand sanitizers are effective at inactivating enveloped viruses, including coronaviruses."
 
Whilst alcohol based hand sanitisers are very effective, they also carry a risk of both physical harm if ingested and catching on fire if near an open flame. For these reasons all hand sanitisers whether in individual bottles or bulk containers should be –
 
very clearly labelled so they are not mistaken for cooking or food products
stored below 25 degrees Celsius and away from sunlight and heat
not stored in pre-used drink or food containers that could be mistaken for other uses and accidentally consumed or used on a gas cooker or BBQ
 
When transferring hand sanitiser from bulk containers to smaller vessels for usage we recommend the following best practices –
 
Wear rubber protective gloves and a face mask
Ensure both containers are on a firm, level, non-slip surface
Use a hand pump that is fully sealed, is alcohol and chemical resistant, and allows controlled pumping and stopping
Do not smoke or have any open flame (such as a gas cooker or BBQ) nearby

We recommend using an Ezi action drum pump for all hand sanitizer decanting as the seals are resistant to alcohol and many harsh chemicals, and the pumps provide safe, smooth control for users of any size and strength.
