Discover how NZ Pump Co. grew from a Fieldays debut to a global name in drum pump innovation.
This June, the iconic Fieldays event returns to Mystery Creek in Waikato, New Zealand, a place filled with meaning for NZ Pump Co. It's not just the Southern Hemisphere’s largest agricultural trade show. For us, it’s home.
Fieldays 2025 marks another exciting chapter in the history of innovation, connection, and Kiwi ingenuity. And for NZ Pump, it’s also a moment to reflect on our roots because Fieldays is where our journey started.
In 1991, our founder, David Johns, introduced a revolutionary drum pump design at Fieldays, drawing inspiration from the manual Shallow Well Pump. This innovation, known for its simplicity, efficiency, and durability, earned the Innovation of the Year award, propelling NZ Pump into the spotlight and setting the foundation for our future.
From humble beginnings in a home garage, the Ezi-action Drum Pump has become a trusted solution for safely extracting chemicals and liquid foods from bulk containers worldwide. Our commitment to quality and innovation has led to the establishment of full production sites in Hamilton, New Zealand, and California, USA, along with a sales office in Staffordshire, England.
After David's passing in 2002, his wife and business partner, Claire Jenkinson-Johns, took the helm, guiding the company through significant growth. In 2019, recognizing the company's potential, Jeff Hitchcock, Greg Flower, and Martin Koers acquired NZ Pump, bringing fresh perspectives and continuing our tradition of excellence.
As Fieldays returns from 11–14 June 2025, it continues to showcase the very best of agricultural technology, innovation, and community. With highlights like the Innovation Awards, Drone Zone, Tent Talks, and the Careers & Education Hub, the event remains a launching pad for big ideas and bold thinking, just like it was for us.
Whether you're attending as a farmer, a supplier, a student, or a business, Fieldays is a reminder that Kiwi ideas can go global. And that great things often begin in the most humble places.
This year, as we walk through the Innovation Hub and watch the next generation of ideas take flight, we’ll be reminded of our own first steps. Fieldays was where NZ Pump took shape and it’s still shaping the future of agri-tech in Aotearoa.
