Our Story

In April 2019 the New Zealand Pump Company and its subsidiaries were purchased by Jeffrey Hitchcock, Greg Flower and Martin Koer who saw  the opportunity to build on the successful products and brand built by David Johns and Claire Jenkinson-Johns.

"We  will continue to strive to exceed the expectations of our customers and to provide customer orientated hand pumping solutions," says Jeff Hitchcock.

History and Time Line

The award winning New Zealand Pump Company has been helping manufacturers and resellers of liquid products to grow market share and increase profits since 1991 when its founder David Johns, partnered with the New Zealand inventor of the patented hand pump to take Ezi-action® Drumpumps to the world.

The T-handled Mark I version (proudly shown in the company’s logo) became an instant hit with farmers throughout New Zealand with its ease of operation and reliability. The leading dairy hygiene supplier that first took the Ezi-action® Drumpump to the market continues to offer this drum pump as a profitable product line.

The New Zealand Pump Company developed the Mark II version, a mix of PVC and polypropylene and introduced the world to the Ezi-action® Drumpumps' innovative ball handle and safety strap that remains a distinctive, key feature to this day.

Continued market research identified the need for widened chemical resistance. This led to the 100% polypropylene Mark III version Ezi-action® Drumpump for 20 - 30 litre containers.

The success of this design was applied to our 200 litre (55 gallon) drum pump and then led to the development of 110 litre, 60 litre (15 gallon) and IBC pumps (1000 litre / 220 gallon). The widened range and increased chemical resistance allowed Ezi-action® Drumpumps to be used successfully in more industrial markets.

The company's search for ways to add value to liquid and powdered products through innovative dispensing technology led to the development of the Ezi-action® Safety Measure in 1996 and the Ezi-action® Powder Measure in 2001.

Sadly David Johns passed away in 2002, but he left a strong legacy in the New Zealand Pump Company, which grew strongly under the leadership of his wife and business partner Claire Jenkinson-Johns.

Accessories continued to be added to the product lines with the non-siphon tube added in 2013 and the reducer spout more recently. Further innovations include the double thread on the Ezi-action® Adaptor Fitting ( M63R, MBSP55).
