WHAT’S THE BEST HAND PUMP FOR DEF ADBLUE?

With more focus on emissions and reducing pollution in the transport industry, exhaust system additives like AdBlue are increasingly being used to reduce Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions from vehicles including trucks, buses, utes and cars. In New Zealand and Australia many domestic car, ute and SUV models from Ford, Volkswagon, Holden and more require the use of an AdBlue diesel exhaust fluid. AdBlue is the registered trademark for AUS 32 (Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5%) and is also known as NOx reducing agent and DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid).  AdBlue is sprayed into the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system carried on-board SCR-equipped vehicles in specially designed tanks that are generally close to the main fuel tank.

In Australia, BP alone now has more than 100 stations offering AdBlue at the pump for trucks, while Shell sells 10 litre packs for diesel SUVs and Utes at more than 100 Shell Coles Express and retail sites across Australia, and has it in bulk supply and 1000 litre IBCs for commercial customers. Because it is a urea solution it is quite a corrosive acid and as such it must be transported and pumped using equipment that can tolerate acids. This is where Ezi-action Drum pumps come in as they are proven for dispensing a huge range of acids.

Ezi-action Drum Pumps are used by thousands of customers for hand pumping AdBlue in many locations and situations. As the pump can be operated with one hand, this allows for more careful dispensing from many containers and barrels and less risk of spillages. The pump system is fully serviceable which extends its life, and comes with a 24 month warranty.

A major concern when using AdBlue is to not contaminate vehicles, which most commonly happens during fluid transfer. This risk is reduced when using Ezi-action® Drumpumps as they are manufactured in New Zealand and the USA to the highest international standards for handling, transportation and storage.
